Bird Watching

While bird watching near Waidroka Bay Resort, you may encounter a variety of bird species including parrots, hawks, silktails, herons and Frigate birds. A few standout species include:

  • Collared Kingfisher: recognizable by its bright turquoise-blue wings and white belly, this bird can often be seen along the coastal edges, especially near the tide line where it hunts for crabs and small fish.
  • Fiji Parrotfinch: this endemic species features a striking scarlet-red head and emerald-green body. You can find them feeding on grass seeds in the resort gardens and along forest edges.

These vibrant birds add to the rich biodiversity of the area, making the area surrounding Waidroka a delightful spot for bird enthusiasts.
