Waidroka Bay Resort highly recommends diving with sharks. Perfectly safe, exhilarating, breath taking – An experience you will never forget!

STAND-UP PADDLE BOARDS !           Waidroka Bay Resort has now added 2 more brand new SUP's (Stand Up Paddle Boards) to it's variety of rental equipment. One is an 11”6’ and the other is a comfortable 12” long. These great new SUP's at the Resort are perfect for all levels of surfers. And, they are even great for non-surfers to simply to take out for a paddle around the Bay or to a nearby beach.  Why not ask for a lunch-pack and some snorkel gear, and head out for the day to enjoy Fiji from the water. It’s a great way to explore the local reefs and beaches.

TWIGHLIGHT ZONE !  Waidroka Bay Resort boasts a unique dive experience at our local Dive Site: The Twighlight Zone. Everyone who dives here soon falls in love with this unique and surreal underwater experience. Dropping down the side of the Reef Wall on the inside of the Reef Channel, we head down through massive boulders and bizarre rock formations. We can feel the current pushing us along, so stay close, sit back, and enjoy the ride. The first thing we are likely to run into are groups of Reef Sharks, usually black and white tips. Its not uncommon to see up to 7 or 8 of these fully grown sharks curiously swimming over  to check us out. On we go, descending gradually  deeper to around 20m / 65 ft. Surrounded by large game fish, such as Snappers, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and lots more, we eventually decide to cross the abyss of the channel. By this time we are now fully exposed to the ripping current that washes out of the channel, making this Twighlight Zone experience one hell of a drift dive and an exciting adrenalin rush.   The channel deepens to around 30m / 100 ft in the middle, so watching our Nitrogen levels, we don’t have too much time down there. For the next 5 to 10 minutes, look out for colourful Blue Spotted Rays, massive Marbled Whip Rays, and if we are lucky, a gigantic Guitar Shovelnose Shark. By the time we hit the other side of the channel, and begin our descent, we often encounter schools of Great Baracuda and usually a Hawkbill Turtle or two. Its time to slowly begin our ascent.   We send up a Safety Bouy, and hang out doing our 3 minute safety stop before ascending to a boat that has diligently followed us and is waiting to help us back up. But the best thing about the Twighlight Zone is that you never really know what to expect and it always throws up something new.

MANGROVE MADNESS !  We love diving and surfing, but we also like other kinds of adventures too.  That’s why we are now offering both guided and un-guided trips deep into the interior heading up a deep estuary  located close to the Resort.  The dense tropical vegetation and thick mangrove forests are home to all kinds of birds and wildlife. Keep quiet for a few moments in there, and all kinds of flying critters will emerge from the jungle.   There are many ways to explore this fascinating water-way. We can escort you up in our smallest boat, or we can drop you off  on kayaks or SUP’s (Stand-Up Paddle Boards), for you to explore on your own. Armed with lunch packs and chilled refreshments, our guests who explore this natural wonder are gone for hours, and come back with beaming smiles after an adventure they are not going to forget.
